Introducing Evan as 1st Tennis Captain
1st Tennis Captain
Marcellin College is proud to announce Evan as the 2025 1st Tennis Captain. A dedicated and passionate athlete, Evan embodies the values of commitment, teamwork and leadership both on and off the court.
A proud member of Augustine House, under the guidance of Miss Toldi, Evan began his tennis journey at Marcellin in Year 7, debuting for the 1st Team in his very first season. Since then, he has become a cornerstone of Marcellin Tennis, demonstrating consistency, determination, and a love for the game that inspires those around him.
Evan’s record speaks for itself — he has gone undefeated in singles for the past two school seasons while playing at number one, and has been selected for the AGSV Representative Team three times, including a stint as the top-ranked player last year.
Balancing his busy training schedule with academic responsibilities, Evan trains every night, alternating between physical and skill-based sessions. He attributes his success to strong communication with teachers and a disciplined approach to managing school work. “The most important thing for me is getting through as much of my work in class as possible and staying organised,” he shared.
Beyond tennis, Evan has also participated in the Altissima program, engaging with academic enrichment opportunities and representing Marcellin at interschool events.
As Captain, Evan is eager to build on the strong culture within the team. “I’m looking forward to leading a group that gets along really well, helping the younger boys develop, and working towards making finals for the first time since I’ve been at the College,” he said.
His advice for younger players reflects his maturity and passion for the sport: “Just enjoy yourself on the court and don’t take it too seriously. It’s easy to get in your own head, but remember—it’s just a game. Enjoy what you’re doing.”
Outside of school, Evan represents North Ringwood Tennis Club in State Grade Men’s Pennant, the highest level of men’s competition in Victoria. His competitive experience and leadership will no doubt play a vital role in driving the team forward this season.
With his blend of skill, humility, and commitment, Evan is set to lead the Marcellin 1st Tennis Team with distinction in 2025—continuing a proud tradition of excellence on the courts.
