Introducing 1st Cricket Captain
1st XI Cricket Captain
Marcellin College is proud to announce Will from Champagnat House as the 2025/26 1st XI Cricket Captain. A dedicated and passionate sportsman, Will has represented the College across multiple sports, including cricket, basketball and AFL football since Year 7.
Will made his 1st XI debut in Year 9/10, playing two games before becoming a key member of the side in Year 10/11, culminating in a grand final appearance and later a premiership victory in the 2024/25 season—an achievement he considers one of his proudest moments at Marcellin.
Balancing sport and study is something Will manages with discipline and structure. He prioritises his training in the afternoons and focuses on his studies in the evenings. Alongside his academic work, Will is completing an off-site TAFE program in Building and Construction (Cert I & II), showing his commitment to both academic and vocational success.
Will also plays for Balwyn Cricket Club at sub-district level, representing the club’s 3rd XI and proudly winning the Youth Club Champion Award in 2024 after his strong performances in the Craig Shield competition.
As captain, Will’s vision is clear: “I want our team to play with an unselfish mindset—everyone contributing, supporting each other, and enjoying the game. If we do that, success will follow.”
He looks forward to working closely with his teammates and staff, particularly Mr Diano, to help the 1st XI build on their success and aim for another premiership. His advice to younger students is simple yet powerful: “Get your habits right early. Work hard, stay consistent, and everything will fall into place.”
Will embodies the Marcellin spirit of teamwork, humility, and excellence—qualities that will no doubt inspire those around him throughout the upcoming season.
