Introducing Daniel as the Senior Hockey Captain
Senior Hockey Captain – Daniel
Marcellin College proudly announces Daniel of Lavalla House as the Senior Hockey Captain for 2025. A dedicated student-athlete and current School Captain, Daniel brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and enthusiasm to his new role.
A former student of St Bernadette’s Primary School, Daniel has been a fixture in Marcellin sport since Year 7. His commitment is exceptional—he has played hockey every year as his chosen winter sport and has also represented the College in cricket since Year 7, making his 1st XI cricket debut in Year 11. Remarkably, Daniel debuted for the 1st XI hockey team as a Year 7 student, a testament to his skill and tenacity.
Among his proudest sporting achievements are winning the AGSV Cricket Premiership and captaining the Marcellin hockey team in 2024, milestones that reflect both his sporting prowess and leadership capabilities.
Balancing life as a student and athlete is no small feat. With training most nights of the week—either with school or his community club, Yarra Hockey Club, where he plays in the Vic League 1 seniors—Daniel credits his success to establishing a consistent routine. This discipline enables him to manage schoolwork, captaincy duties, and high-level sport seamlessly.
Looking ahead, Daniel is eager to make a lasting impact as Captain:
“I am most looking forward to working with other players to build up their confidence and ability,” he shares. His vision for 2025 includes fostering individual and team growth, building confidence among teammates, and driving the team toward success on and off the field.
Daniel’s advice to junior players reflects his passion and perspective:
“Try to play as much sport as you can, especially when you are young. They might not all work out, but the memories and skills you make along the way are valuable.”
With Daniel at the helm, the future of Marcellin hockey is in capable hands. His leadership, humility, and drive embody the spirit of our College, and we look forward to seeing the hockey program thrive under his guidance.
We wish him and his team well.
