Dear Members of the Marcellin College Community,

As we approach the midpoint of the term, I would like to take this opportunity to highlight some recent celebrations and events that we have shared as a community.

Success of Rock of Ages Musical

I am delighted to announce the resounding success of the senior production of Rock of Ages. Each night was a sell-out as the cast and crew delivered a passionate performance. I enjoyed hearing the reviews from both Marcellin College families and Our Lady of Mercy (OLMC) families. Our heartfelt congratulations to all the students involved and our gratitude to the dedicated staff who supported them in bringing this amazing show to life.

A Friday Filled with 1sts and Great Atmosphere

Last Friday witnessed an impressive number of games, as our Soccer, Football and Rugby 1st teams showcased their skill and determination. We hosted the Soccer and Rugby with our Football team across the path at the Trinity Fields. The atmosphere was electric as parents, students, and staff gathered to cheer on our teams. It was testament to the spirit of our school community. It was an even better night as we won each game!

Professional Learning Day on Marist Spirituality and Connections

This Friday College staff gathered to attend a professional learning day focused on deepening our understanding of Marist spirituality and the significance of our Marist connections. Our College is blessed to have a wider Marist family that we can share with and learn from.  We welcomed insights gained from this day of reflection and growth.

Preparing for ACER and Parent Involvement

As part of our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, the College instigated a relationship with the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). They will work with us as we plan out our College goals for the next 4 - 5 years. Using their National School Improvement Tool, we will evaluate our practices and further enhance the educational experience we provide to our students. We value the input and involvement of parents in this process and will be reaching out to you soon to discuss how many of you can contribute to this important undertaking.

Reviewing Sport Uniforms

In consultation with our Student Leaders we are currently conducting a thorough review of our sporting uniforms to ensure that they meet the needs and expectations of our students and teams now and into the future. Our aim is to provide functional, comfortable, and stylish attire that instills a sense of pride in representing our school on the field or court. We appreciate your patience as we work towards finalising this process and will keep you updated on any developments.

IDAHOBIT Day

On Wednesday, we recognised the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). I would like to emphasise that promoting inclusivity, respect, and acceptance should not be limited to a single day but rather a fundamental aspect of our daily interactions. We strive to foster a safe and inclusive environment for all members of our school community, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. As a community, it is important that we champion equality and celebrate diversity not just today but every day.

“The mission of the Catholic school springs from the mercy of Jesus Christ shown to every person he encounters. Christ’s mercy is one of invitation into God’s own life of tenderness and love, as well as a challenge to courageously help others grow in child-like wisdom. As Catholic schools develop the work of mercy and wisdom, they do so in the hope that every child, whatever their personal circumstances, will find the living Christ to be the source of hope and dignity in the path of life before them. “

Most Rev Peter A. Comensoli, Archbishop of Melbourne.

In addition to all this, we continue to work to provide our students with a nurturing and stimulating learning environment. Our dedicated staff are actively engaged in their professional development, ensuring they stay up to date with the latest pedagogical practices. We also encourage students to take advantage of the resources available to them, such as our library and homework club and our Beyond the Classroom opportunities to further enrich their educational journey.

As always, we appreciate the unwavering support and collaboration of parents, students and staff. Together, we continue to build a strong community where students strive for the highest with heart.

God Bless
