Introducing the 2026 Soccer Captain

1st XI Soccer Captain – Jake

The 1st XI Soccer program is proudly led this year by Jake, a student who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to Marcellin sport across his entire secondary schooling. Jake attended Templestowe Valley Primary School before commencing his journey at Marcellin and comes from a strong Marcellin family, with his father Maurice attending the College as a member of the Class of 1989.

From his first year at the College, Jake has been a constant presence in soccer, representing Marcellin from Year 7 through to his current role as Captain of the 1st XI. He made his debut for the 1st XI in Year 11 and has since developed into a respected leader within the group.

One of Jake’s most memorable achievements came last year when the team secured the AGSV Premiership. He speaks proudly of the collective effort involved and the commitment shown by the entire squad across the season, making it a memory he will carry well beyond his time at Marcellin.

Balancing the demands of school and high-level sport is something Jake approaches with maturity and organisation. Training three times each week alongside weekend matches requires discipline and planning. By following a clear schedule, Jake is able to stay on top of his schoolwork while maintaining full commitment to the soccer program without feeling overwhelmed.

Outside of school, Jake plays for Manningham U23, competing in the VPL 1 Reserves competition. This experience continues to develop his leadership and competitive mindset. As Captain, his vision is clear: to build on last year’s success and guide the team towards another premiership. He is determined to help make the season enjoyable and rewarding for every player involved.

Jake’s advice to younger students is to become involved in activities they enjoy and make the most of the opportunities sport provides. Playing sport with friends creates lifelong memories and forms an important part of the Marcellin experience.
