Introducing 1st Cricket Captain - Xavier
Xavier Appointed 2027 1st XI Cricket Captain
Marcellin College is proud to announce Xavier as the 2027 1st XI Cricket Captain.
A proud member of Lavalla House, Xavier has established himself as an outstanding student leader, dedicated sportsman and role model within the Marcellin community. Having joined the College from St Martin of Tours Primary School in Rosanna, Xavier has embraced every opportunity available to him and has become a highly respected figure amongst peers and staff alike.
Xavier's sporting journey at Marcellin has spanned both football and cricket. He has represented the College in football from Year 7 through to senior level and progressed through the cricket program from the 8As and 9As to the 2nd XI and eventually the 1st XI. His 1st XI debut came in Round 1 of the 2025/26 season, marking the beginning of an exciting chapter in his cricket career.
One of Xavier's most memorable achievements has been contributing to the 2025/26 1st XI AGSV Cricket Premiership, helping the team secure its second consecutive premiership and further strengthening Marcellin's proud cricket tradition.
Away from the sporting arena, Xavier's commitment to leadership and academic excellence is equally impressive. Throughout his time at the College, he has held numerous leadership positions, culminating in his appointment as College Captain for 2027. He is also undertaking accelerated studies in both Legal Studies and Geography.
As he prepares to lead the 1st XI, Xavier is excited about more than just on-field success. He is passionate about being an approachable leader for all cricketers across the College and helping to foster a positive and inclusive culture throughout the program.
Reflecting on the year ahead, Xavier's vision is centred on growth, opportunity and community. He aims to continue building the strong connections that have underpinned the success of Marcellin cricket while ensuring every player feels valued and supported. His leadership will play an important role in maintaining the culture that has made the program one of the College's great strengths.
Outside of school, Xavier continues to develop his game with Ivanhoe Cricket Club in the VSDCA competition, bringing valuable experience and perspective back to the Marcellin environment.
We congratulate Xavier on this well-deserved appointment and look forward to seeing him lead the 1st XI Cricket program in 2027. His dedication, humility and commitment to both his teammates and the wider Marcellin community make him an outstanding choice to captain the Eagles into the season.
