Introducing 1st Basketball Captain - Diesel

2027 1st Basketball Captain: Diesel
Marcellin College is delighted to announce Diesel as the 2027 1st Basketball Captain.

A proud graduate of Sacred Heart Kew, Diesel has been a dedicated member of the Marcellin Basketball program since Year 7 and has consistently demonstrated the commitment, leadership and character that make him an outstanding choice to lead the program into 2027.

A member of Redden House and the Senior 03 Pastoral group, Diesel has developed into a respected leader through his unwavering commitment to basketball and to the wider College community. Having represented Marcellin in basketball every year since commencing at the College, he made his debut for the 1st Basketball Team in Term 4 of Year 10 and has continued to establish himself as a valued contributor both on and off the court.

One of the highlights of Diesel’s Marcellin sporting journey was helping the College claim the Marist Basketball Carnival title in Perth this year. During the carnival, Diesel was also recognised with the prestigious Champagnat Award, highlighting not only his basketball ability but also the values and qualities he brings to the team environment.

Away from school basketball, Diesel competes with Hawthorn Magic in the Big V Youth League, while maintaining a demanding schedule that includes five basketball training sessions each week, regular gym work and coaching commitments with his local club. His ability to balance these commitments with his studies is a testament to his organisation, discipline and consistency.

As he prepares to lead the 1st Team in 2027, Diesel is most looking forward to guiding a talented group of students and continuing to strengthen Marcellin’s proud basketball tradition. His vision is centred on building a strong culture throughout the entire basketball program, maintaining high standards that reflect Marcellin’s sporting values and creating a legacy that the school community can be proud of.

Diesel also hopes to inspire younger students to embrace every opportunity available to them. His advice is simple yet powerful: be consistent, stay organised, make the most of school life and strive to be a dependable presence within the community.

We congratulate Diesel on his appointment as 2027 1st Basketball Captain and look forward to seeing him lead the Eagles with pride, determination and excellence throughout the year ahead.
