Congratulations to Nico, who has been named Captain of the 1st XVIII Football team for 2026—a role he embraces with passion, humility, and a deep love for the College and its football tradition.

A proud member of Marlhes House, Nico’s journey at Marcellin has been shaped by commitment, resilience, and a genuine appreciation for school sport. He joined the College from St Clements of Rome Primary School, and his connection to Marcellin runs deep. He proudly follows in the footsteps of his father, Damian (Class of 1991), and his uncle, Richard (Class of 1988), continuing a strong family legacy at the College. This generational link fuels his pride in wearing the Marcellin jumper and leading a program rich in history and tradition.

Football has been central to Nico’s Marcellin experience since Year 7. From early morning winter games on the Lyons to now, leading the prestigious 1st XVIII football team, his journey reflects consistency and dedication. Nico made his 1st XVIII debut in Round 1, 2024, as a Year 10 student—an unforgettable moment marked by the buzz of the Bray and the energy of the Marcellin faithful.

Among his standout achievements, Nico highlights finishing top of the ladder and playing finals in 2025, along with the honour of representing the AGSV Football Team against APS—experiences that reflect both his talent and character. Balancing elite football commitments with Year 12 demands, Nico has shown outstanding discipline, further evidenced by accelerating VCE Physical Education and achieving a study score of 40, allowing him a reduced academic load in 2026.

As Captain, Nico’s vision extends beyond results. While success and an AGSV premiership remain key goals, his focus is firmly on enjoyment, personal growth, and shared memories with his teammates. His advice to younger students is simple yet powerful: get involved, commit to school sport, and treasure the lifelong memories it creates.
