Introducing the 2025 Rugby Captain
Rugby Captain - Henry
Congratulations to Henry, who has been our 2025 Rugby First XV Captain. He joined us from St Martin of Tours Primary school and is a now a dedicated member of Augustine House. He has been a prominent figure in Marcellin’s sporting landscape since Year 8, representing the College in both rugby and cricket.
Henry’s passion for rugby began in Year 8 and has continued unwaveringly through to his final year at the College. He also contributed to the cricket program from Years 8 to 11. His dedication and performance earned him a debut in the prestigious First XV in 2024, where he quickly established himself as a leader on and off the field.
Among his most cherished memories in the Marcellin jersey are the rugby tours to Fiji in both 2023 and 2025 – opportunities that not only showcased his sporting talents but also deepened his connection with the team and broader rugby community.
Balancing sport and academics is no small feat, but Henry approaches it with maturity and discipline. With rugby training scheduled on Mondays and Thursdays, he carefully plans his week to stay on top of schoolwork, demonstrating the kind of responsibility and time management expected of a student leader.
When asked what he looks forward to most in his captaincy role, Henry responded with characteristic humility: “I am most looking forward to supporting my team through the season ahead.” His commitment to team success is also clear in his vision for the year – to lead the First XV into the finals, with the ultimate goal of bringing home the premiership.
Henry’s message to younger students is simple but powerful: “Stick with the sport and keep playing. You make lifelong friends through playing sport at school, and it’s some of the best fun you will have.” Though he does not currently play for a community rugby club, his loyalty and passion for representing Marcellin are unwavering.
As Captain, Henry embodies the values of leadership, perseverance, and teamwork. We congratulate him on this well-deserved role and look forward to watching him lead the Marcellin 1st XV in the season ahead.
