Introducing Cross Country Co-Captain Oliver
Cross Country Co‑Captain – Oliver
Marcellin College proudly acknowledges Oliver as a 2026 Cross Country Co-Captain, a student whose commitment, discipline and quiet leadership have made a lasting impact on the College’s Cross Country and Athletics programs.
A member of Champagnat House, Oliver has represented Marcellin with distinction since making his Cross Country debut in Year 9. Competing in both Cross Country and Athletics from Year 9 onwards, he has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and an unwavering dedication to his sport.
Oliver began his schooling journey at St Martin of Tours Primary School, Rosanna, where his love of running and competitive sport first developed. That early foundation has clearly served him well, as he has gone on to become one of Marcellin’s most accomplished distance runners.
His list of achievements is exceptional. In 2025, Oliver was crowned Year 11 and Open AGSV Cross Country Champion, played a key role in securing Marcellin’s 25th consecutive AGSV Cross Country Premiership, and was part of the winning team in the AGSV vs APS representative race. Beyond school sport, he also achieved team gold representing Victoria at the Australian National Cross Country Championships, highlighting his ability to perform at the highest level.
Balancing such an intense training load with academic responsibilities is no small feat. Oliver trains every day, often running close to 100 kilometres per week, while maintaining a demanding academic program. Having accelerated in Mathematical Methods, he is currently studying English, General Mathematics, Physics and Specialist Mathematics, exemplifying the balance Marcellin encourages between sport and learning.
While there is no previous family connection to Marcellin through parents or extended family, Oliver’s ties to the College continue to grow, with two younger brothers also attending Marcellin, strengthening the Peake family’s connection to the school community.
As Captain, Oliver is excited by the opportunity to lead a talented and motivated group of athletes. His goals include striving for a 26th consecutive Cross Country Premiership, achieving strong results at state-level events, and ensuring the program continues to thrive in both performance and culture. He is also greatly looking forward to the City2Surf trip to Sydney, which promises to be a highlight of the year.
Oliver encourages younger students to embrace the wide range of opportunities available at Marcellin, particularly in sport. His advice is simple but powerful: be willing to try new things, as you never know where they might lead.
Marcellin is fortunate to have a captain who leads through action, consistency and humility, and Oliver Peake is a worthy ambassador for both his team and the broader College community.
